Zhi Lei Synopsis and Plot Summary
Zhilei is a mainland Chinese born in 1960. In 1978, he joined the Photography Department at Beijing Film Academy. After graduation, he worked as a photojournalist for Xi’an Film Studio.
He has successively directed the feature films: “The Beach”, Wild Mama”, Operation Hurricane”, They Are Young”, We Are the World”, Operation Thunderbolt”, The Ballad of the Yellow River”.
Zhilei grew up in a family of artists. He was influenced by art as a child and has remained interested in it ever since.
He received a good education at the Film Academy.
He joined the fifth generation, along with Zhang Yimou, Gu Changwei, and others.
The style of his photography is similar to that of the fifth generation but it also has an unique documentary style.
Zhilei was awarded the Best Camera Award in the 12th China Golden Eagle TV Arts Festival, and the 29th China TV Golden Eagle Award on October 14, 2018.
