Defying the Storm Synopsis and Plot Summary
Set against the backdrop of the formation of National Southwest Associated University (generally called ‘Lianda’), the tale follows intellectuals in Beiping and the selections and sacrifices made by way of generations to keep the flames of civilization alive.
Beiping fell to Japanese forces in 1937. Several northern universities determined to transport south to Changsha, but, battle soon broke out. Meng Hai Tang a lecturer on the National Peking University School of Medicine, needed to flee with the young college students. In order to maintain their country wide heritage, a group of Chinese intellectuals came to shape the National Southwest Associated University (“Lianda”) even as in exile.
Hai Tang and Zhang Qi fell in love. Upon arriving in Chongqing, they supported each different in setting up a medical faculty beneath Peking University. However, Hai Tang was dismissed from her function. The couple travelled west to Kunming, were given married and reestablished a scientific faculty in Mengzi. During the Battle of Northern Burma and Western Yunnan, Hai Tang and Zhang Qi led college students to provide clinical useful resource. No remember how difficult, these are those who encompass the fearless university spirit of modern teenagers.
