My Cat Burglar Synopsis and Plot Summary

The story centers around the “cat-hiring shop” in Lin’an, Southern Song Dynasty. When she was a child Zhang Qiao’er, the owner of the shop was taught cat-training techniques by the craftsmen who stayed and left the teahouse.

Since she started the cat shop, families from the city that needed cat slaves would come to the shop and purchase cats to be taken home in accordance with the rules. In the end, a significant case within the city involved Zhang Qiao’er’s proprietress She also got to be acquainted with Ma Qingshan, an honest young constable from Lin’an Prefecture.

As the investigation gets more in depth the identity of Zhang Qiaoer is gradually revealed. It is revealed that Zhang Qiaoer is a well-known “little thief cat” among those around her and also the person who Ma Qingshan has been chasing.
