Midi Z, born the 18th of December 1982. He was born in Myanmar. His family home lies in Nanjing, Jiangsu. The director is as well as a screenwriter. His degree was from his Institute of Design at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology.

The year 2006 was the time that his graduation piece “White Dove” was shortlisted for the Busan and Copenhagen Film Festivals. The year 2009 was the time he was chosen as a creative student at the Golden Horse Film Academy hosted by Hou Hsiao -Hsien. Under his direction, he shot his 49th award-winning Golden Horse short movie “Hua Xin Street Chronicles”.

In 2011 the year he made his debut feature film The Return , which was nominated to win The New Wave Award in the main competition in the 16th Busan International Film Festival. He also helmed the full-length film ” Poor People, Durian, Narcotics, and Stowaways “.

The film was chosen as an official film for competition for the 32nd Hawaii International Film Festival. He received the Best Director Award at the 16th Taipei Film Festival for his anti-drug documentary Ice.

He was in 2015 when he helmed his debut documentary Jade Diggers. In 2016 the film got nominated to receive the Best Director Award at the 53rd Taiwan Golden Horse Film Awards for his feature film ” Goodbye, Mr. Wa ” and was awarded the Outstanding Taiwan Film Worker Award of the Year.
