Cry of the Birds Synopsis and Plot Summary

In the 1960s, young and educated people arrived in Yunnan with the idea of man overcoming nature. To cultivate “useful” rubber trees, they started to slash off “useless” primeval forests. After a lot of trees fell from the mountain the people brought their machetes in honor of their “king of trees” that people long revered. A farmer from the area identified as “Xiao Geda”, a cook who was familiar with forests and mountains well, put his life at risk to defend himself and began a battle with the opposing sides.
